Days of the Iris

I tend to explore many of my subjects as I visually explore the angles and time of day. Most of my floral work is either in the morning after dawn or in late afternoon dusk light. The soft light brings out a luminance. I received the bulbs for these irises from a very good friend , Clark Stewart. He is an amazing artist and was teaching when I was in art school in college. I like to visit the blooming flowers for many days and like to begin with the precision capture of the camera and in a way work backwards to bring a texture and look that is more like a painting or a lithograph. Close up and varied perspectives bring out an abstract presence.
